Connect Salesforce for Orders
While running your marketplace, you should be able to interpret data from your orders and use this to improve your processes. Nautical Commerce helps you extend insight into your marketplace's orders through a third-party integration with Salesforce. Leveraging this integration lets you perform actions that include:
- Tracking customer orders from multiple sellers.
- Viewing customer purchasing metrics.
- Acting on analytics and providing customers with more of what they need.
In this guide, you'll learn how to integrate your marketplace with Salesforce.
Requirements
To integrate Salesforce, you’ll need the following:
- A Nautical Commerce account: Nautical Commerce is a marketplace commerce platform that enables businesses to build and scale online marketplaces.
- A Salesforce account: Salesforce provides customer relationship management tools to businesses of all sizes.
- An operational marketplace with Nautical Commerce. You can learn how to set this up through the Nautical Dashboard guide.
Salesforce Dashboard Configuration
Once your marketplace is set up, you can view third-party integrations by navigating to Settings -> Apps -> App Marketplace in your Dashboard. The following image shows a cross-section of third-party integrations in a marketplace:

The core setup of integrating Salesforce so it appears in your marketplace is done by your Nautical representative.
Once Salesforce has been integrated, you can activate it by sharing the following details:
- The username and password of your Salesforce account. You can learn more about this here.
- Your Salesforce login URL. This is your custom hostname used to access your Salesforce account. Learn more about this here.
- Your Nautical tenant type. This can either be Staging (you’re still testing things out), or Production (your marketplace is live).
- Your Nautical tenant ID. This is your store’s name, you can also confirm this from your marketplace’s dashboard URL - https://[tenantid].mpconsole.com.
- Your Bearer Token. This is an API token generated as part of integrating a third-party app to your marketplace. You can create one in your dashboard by navigating to Settings -> Apps -> Custom Apps.
The video below shows how you can generate a Bearer Token when integrating an app:
The Bearer Token displayed here is only for educational purposes. You should always keep your tokens private.
Once you have all the details you need to get Salesforce active, navigate to Settings -> Apps -> App marketplace in your dashboard and input your details in the Salesforce app. The following image shows the needed input modals you're to fill in the Dashboard:

Once you are done configuring the Salesforce third-party app, the next step is to have your Salesforce account track buyer activities on your Storefront. You can do this through using Salesforce Opportunities.
Opportunities in Salesforce are deals in progress. An opportunity tracks and records every detail and step in a deal. You can learn more about Salesforce opportunities and deals here.
The process of creating opportunities that track your Storefront is done by your Nautical representative.
To view opportunities on your Salesforce dashboard, navigate to Sales -> Opportunities and select a record. Opportunities synced from your marketplace will appear as orders. The following image shows details of an order that was generated via a buyer purchase:

When a customer visits your Storefront and places an order, an opportunity is created in your Salesforce account. The following video shows the process of a customer placing an order in a storefront integrated with Salesforce:
Once the order is placed, an opportunity is created in your Salesforce account. The following image shows the order generated as an opportunity in Salesforce:

When you work out customer orders on your Salesforce account, you can use the data gotten from these orders to improve your customer experience, offer tailored discounts, or set up subscriptions for customers.
