Add Custom Fields to an Item

You can manually assign custom fields directly to individual items in your marketplace, providing an alternative to using custom field templates.

For instance, if a specific product offers a customization option that others don't, you can add a "Personalization" custom field directly to that product.

Before you start

  • Add the attribute for the field you want to add, if it doesn't already exist.
  • Your marketplace configuration must allow flexible attribute usage. Otherwise, custom fields can only be assigned through custom field templates.

Steps

  1. Go to the item you want to add the custom field to.
    You can use custom fields on your products, variants, categories, collections, staff members, and customers.
  2. Scroll down to the Custom fields section.
  3. Select the Add icon.
  4. Choose the attribute from the list.
  5. Select Add.
  6. Set the field value.
    What type of value you can enter depends on the input type on the attribute.
  7. Save the page.
