Assign Inventory

Inventory is managed on each individual product variant. You can view inventory for each variant on the product, but you can only update inventory on the product variants themselves. Go to the Variants section on a product to view which warehouses carry each particular SKU and what quantities they hold.

Assign product inventory

Assign stock quantity at each warehouse on the product variant.

Before you start

Make sure the warehouses you will assign stock to have been created.

Steps

1. Go to the product you want to assign inventory to, and open a variant from the Variants section.
2. To add a warehouse, select Add warehouse and choose the warehouse from the list.
3. Select the edit button beside the warehouse to which you want to assign inventory.
4. Update the Quantity in stock to the amount of inventory in the warehouse.
5. Select Save.

tip

When you receive new stock, keep the quantity available up-to-date to avoid false out-of-stock messages.

Non-physical products

Non-physical products, such as digital goods, have the same warehouse, shipping, and stock requirements as physical products in Nautical. To make non-physical products available for purchase, they still need to be assigned stock at a warehouse.

If stock changes do not apply, you can turn off inventory tracking.
