Permissions reference
Staff members must have certain permissions to access specific marketplace functions like product setup, inventory assignment, and order management. Restricting permissions limits the information and actions visible to a staff member in the dashboard.
Each permission grants a Manage
level permission, which includes users comprehensive access, allowing them to create, view, modify, and delete information as needed.
Do not assign any permission group with the Manage marketplace
permission to staff members who are not marketplace operators. This permission grants access to seller data for every seller account in the marketplace.
The following table describes each permission available in Nautical, what it gives access to, and the permission group it falls under:

Manage agreements | Gives marketplace staff members access to create, edit, and delete seller agreements. Sellers do not need this permission to acknowledge and view their assigned agreement. This permission is only effective when combined with the Manage marketplace permission reserved for marketplace operators. |

Manage apps | Gives marketplace staff members access to develop and manage custom apps. In the dashboard, this permission is only effective when combined with the Manage plugins permission, which gives access to the App Marketplace page. |

Manage checkouts | Gives marketplace staff members access to manage customer checkout instances, such as resetting checkouts for buyers. |

Manage collections | Gives marketplace staff members access to create, edit, and delete collections. |

Manage sales and vouchers | Gives marketplace staff members access to create, edit, and delete sales and vouchers. |

Manage documents | Gives marketplace and seller staff members access to add, view, and delete documents. |

Manage draft orders | Gives marketplace and seller staff members access to create, edit, and delete draft orders. |

Manage fulfillments | Gives marketplace and seller staff members access to manage order fulfillment, including creating, updating, cancelling, and managing tracking and shipping. Without this permission, staff members are limited to reading fulfillment information for orders they have access to, but cannot perform fulfillment actions. |

Manage inventory | Gives marketplace and seller staff members access to manage inventory-related fields on variants such as assigning stock to warehouses, adding the SKU, and toggling inventory tracking. Without this permission, staff members can only read inventory information on their product variants. |

Manage marketplace | Gives marketplace staff members administrative privileges in the marketplace, allowing access to information for all sellers in the system, instead of being limited to the first seller account. This permission is what sets marketplace operators apart from regular sellers. |

Manage plugins | Gives staff members access to the App Marketplace page and the ability to manage third-party apps or plugins like Shopify, Stripe, etc. |

Manage products | Gives marketplace and seller staff members access to create, edit, and delete products and variants. |

Manage product templates and attributes | Gives marketplace and seller staff members access to create, edit, and delete product templates. Attributes can only be managed by marketplace operators with the Manage marketplace permission. For seller staff members, product templates and attributes will be read-only unless a system setting is enabled to allow sellers to create product templates and attributes. Contact Nautical Support to enable this setting. |

Manage refunds | Gives marketplace staff members access to create, approve, and process refunds to buyers. This permission is only effective when combined with the Manage marketplace permission reserved for marketplace operators. |
