Permission Reference

Staff members must have permission to access specific marketplace functions like product setup, inventory assignment, and order management. Restricting permissions limits the information and actions visible to a staff member in the dashboard.

Each permission grants a "Manage" level permission, which includes users comprehensive access, allowing them to create, view, modify, and delete information as needed.

caution

Do not assign the Manage marketplace permission to staff members who are not marketplace operators. This permission grants access to seller data beyond their designated seller.

The following table describes each permission available in Nautical and what it gives access to:

Group has full access to the storeGives staff members access to full permissions within the system.
Manage agreementsGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete vendor agreements. Sellers do not need this permission to acknowledge and view their assigned agreement.
This permission is only effective when combined with the "Manage marketplace" permission reserved for marketplace operators.
Manage appsGives staff members access to develop and manage custom apps.
In the Dashboard, this permission is only effective when combined with the "Manage plugins" permission, which gives access to the App Marketplace page.
Manage business entitiesThis permission is for a feature reserved for future development. This permission is not currently in use.
Manage channelsGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete channels.
This permission is only effective when combined with the "Manage marketplace" permission reserved for marketplace operators.
Manage checkoutsGives staff members access to manage customer checkout instances, such as resetting checkouts for buyers.
Manage collectionsGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete collections.
Manage dashboard configurationThis permission is for a feature reserved for future development. This permission is not currently in use.
Manage sales and vouchersGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete sales and vouchers.
Manage documentsGives staff members access to add, view, and delete documents.
Manage draft and quote ordersGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete draft orders and quote orders.
For sellers, an additional marketplace configuration setting is required to allow them to send quote orders.
Manage fulfillmentsGives staff members access to manage order fulfillment, including creating, updating, cancelling, and managing tracking and shipping.
Without this permission, users are limited to reading fulfillment information for orders they have access to, but cannot perform fulfillment actions.
Manage inventoryGives staff members access to manage inventory-related fields on variants such as assigning stock to warehouses, adding the SKU, and toggling inventory tracking.
Without this permission, users can only read inventory information on their product variants.
Manage marketplaceGives staff members administrative privileges in the marketplace, allowing access to information for all sellers in the system, instead of being limited to their assigned seller.
This permission is what sets marketplace operators apart from regular sellers.
Manage marketplace configurationGives staff members access to system administration controls for the marketplace.
Manage navigationGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete menus for the storefront.
Manage micrositesGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete seller microsites.
Manage ordersGives staff members access to view and manage orders.
Sellers are limited to their orders, whereas marketplace operators with the "Manage marketplace" permission can see all orders.
Manage pagesGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete pages for the storefront.
Manage paymentsGives staff members access to create and manage payments against orders.
This permission is only effective when combined with the "Manage marketplace" permission reserved for marketplace operators.
Manage payoutsGives staff members access to create and process payouts to sellers.
This permission is only effective when combined with the "Manage marketplace" permission reserved for marketplace operators.
Manage permissionsGives staff members access to create and edit permission groups, with restrictions based on their permissions.
Manage pluginsGives staff members access to the App Marketplace page and the ability to manage plugins like Shopify, SendGrid, etc.
Manage pricebooksGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete price books for marketplace operators.
This permission is only effective when combined with the "Manage marketplace" permission reserved for marketplace operators.
Manage productsGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete products and variants.
Manage product types and attributesGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete product types and attributes for marketplace operators with the "Manage marketplace" permission.
For sellers, product types and attributes will be read-only unless a system setting is enabled to allow sellers to create product types and attributes. Contact Nautical Support to enable this setting.
Manage refundsGives staff members access to create, approve, and process refunds to buyers.
This permission is only effective when combined with the "Manage marketplace" permission reserved for marketplace operators.
Manage settingsGives staff members access to the Settings area of the Dashboard.
Manage shippingGives staff members access to create and manage warehouses, shipping zones, and rates.
Manage staffGives staff members access to invite, manage, and remove staff members.
Manage translationsThis permission is not in use.
Manage customersGives staff members access to create, edit, and delete customers.
Without this permission, staff members have read-only access to the customer shipping address on their orders.
